Frequently Asked Questions

Will diets work?

No they don’t! A diet by implication means restricting intake for a period of time, and then going back to the eating style that caused you to want to go on a diet in the first place. The only way to attaining lasting results with your weight management is to change your eating ‘lifestyle’, and go on a fitness program.

I don’t want to get ‘big’, I’m a woman.

This is a very common mis conception. If you follow a correct fitness training program, you will not get ‘big’, as if you are a female that would require personal training with heavier weights and lower repetitions. The optimum way to personal train a female who doesn’t want to be ‘big’, is to personal train her circuit style with lighter weights, and higher repetitions.

How long does it take to train, as I don’t have time.

It is does not take that much time to invest in your health/fitness program, about 2 or 3 personal training sessions per week of 45/50 minutes or so would be enough to see a difference in fitness. The rest would be food ‘modification and cardio. It doesn’t take long to change the way you feel, and ultimately your life with the right personal training program.

I’ve tried personal training before but did not get results.

It is important to engage a personal training program, with a trainer who has the expertise of correct nutrition /cardio vascular specifics and exercise selection, as if you engage the service of one who has limited talent, you will be with a number counter, and thus have limited results.

How long should I workout to lose fat.

Workout aerobically for at least 12 minutes. Why 12 minutes? Aerobic means oxygen. This is the amount of time needed for the body to start producing fat burning enzymes. The aim with cardio training is to get your body to use fat for energy.

What is the best way to lose weight?

Don’t be too concerned with how much weight, focus on losing fat- not muscle or water. To lose bodyfat you need to use more calories than you take in. In order to do it effectively and to make sure it stays off, the following steps should be done long enough to become part of your fitness lifestyle. Start an aerobic fitness training program. The activity that you do would be best to be one that you enjoy most, that way you’ll want to do it, and more importantly do it consistently enough to get results. It does not have to be in the gym, it can be the great outdoors- hiking – powerwalking – dancing etc. The important thing is to get and keep your Heart Rate up, with steady non- stop activity using lower body muscles.

I need to lose 30lbs- How long will it take?

To safely lose weight, primarily body fat count on losing about 1 or 2lbs per week – so about 16 weeks of training.
