Pharmaceuticals Vs. Natural Supplements

Natural Suppliments

In our modern day pharmaceuticals are just about as the norm in everyday life as brushing your teeth. There is a drug for everything, cholesterol, blood pressure, appetite reduction, pain in the joints, even one when you feel blue:{

The whole idea of the pharmaceutical industry wanting to give us a better quality of life is just hocus-pocus, as their main concern is in our lack of health. If we enlighten ourselves to the possibility of the alternatives available through mother nature, they and the whole medical ‘mafia’ would be put out of business. That would put a lot of overpaid people out of work, effect political landscapes and change the way society has been manipulated to function for the benefit of their system. Do you now see why the ‘cash cow’ doesn’t want you to change…? If you were them would you?? Maybe if your life was lived through God purpose, but with the greed mentality of this world most definitely not! The system only demands people’s attention/respect as a result of the money spent on research. But how about if we stop and think for a while, and then determine that the whole system is fundamentally flawed, with in many cases the person in a less than healthy state after using the pharmaceutical drug, or drugs.

This year is part of a New World Age, 12/21/2012 being a significant date (see my article ‘” Is 2012 Armageddon?”), it marks a great year for new beginnings and therefore gives us all a chance to refresh, reconsider the things that we have been programmed to do. This period has seen many life changing events, climatic shifts, dictators being overthrown, the Fannie Mae instigated housing crisis, which was started with the intent of aggressively marketing loans to people to buy houses at inflated prices, without any consideration of their ability to pay the loans off. The end result is that home owners lost their homes, and the banks grew richer by buying them back at 40% less in many cases ( what the real price was in the first place). This like the pharmaceutical industry is all about one thing… GREED AND PROFIT.

I believe that health experts like myself with a voice, can and should shine the light on as many people as we can so that they can change the way that they spend their money, and instead of spending it on masking problems, look to permanent solution and hence a life that they were intended to live by Universe. All the things we need to achieve, and then stay in optimum health were and are already under the sun.

Foods That Lower Blood Pressure

The National Institute of Health (NIH) promotes and recommends a healthier eating lifestyle as a fundamental step in preventing high blood pressure and hypertension.

DASH, which stands for “Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension,” is the eating plan recommended by the NIH. It features foods that are low in saturated fat, total fat, and cholesterol, with a particular focus on fruits, and vegetables. The foods i will list below are all rich in nutrients that will lower your blood pressure, and assist in aiding overall health.

Celery
Cold-water fish
Broccoli
Dandelion
Oats
Black beans
Berries
Celery

How it works: Celery contains a plant chemical known as pthalides, which relax the muscle tissue in the artery walls, enabling increased blood flow (dilate) ,and in turn lowering blood pressure. The calcium, magnesium and potassium in celery also helps balance blood pressure. The coumarins found in it also aid in the prevention of cancer. It also has beneficial properties that act as an anti-inflammatory, which may aid in the prevention of the effects of arthritis.

How much:

It is a very flexible food and can be incorporated easily into your everyday food plan. Add it to a tuna dish or chicken salad, eat as a traditional snack with peanut butter, or use in your daily salads.

Cold-water fish

Cold-water fish are rich in anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats, which not only have anti-inflammatory benefits, but also cardiovascular that reduce risk of stroke and heart attack. Wild (not farmed) salmon, tuna, mackerel, cod, trout, halibut, herring, and sardines are among the best sources.

How it works: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids: The human body does not produce them, so we need to get them from the foods we eat. Omega-3s act as a natural blood thinner, making it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body. Less viscous (thick) blood is also less likely to form clots in veins and arteries.

How much: According to the joint guidelines from the FDA and the EPA, two six-ounce servings per week of most cold-water fish is a safe amount for most people, including pregnant women and nursing mothers, to reap the health benefits with minimal risk from exposure to toxins. If you bruise easily, have a bleeding disorder, or take blood-thinning medication, talk to your doctor about potential complications.

Pharmaceutical alternative

Coumadin- Plavix
These are two of the most common prescription blood thinner used by the medical profession to prevent strokes.

Side effects
There are various side effects from using these chemicals. Use of Coumadin can result in abnormal and sometimes profuse bleeding, the former can occur inside the eye and intestines. Use of Plavix can cause stomach pain, muscle aches, dizziness, and headache. People who have stomach ulcers may develop intestinal bleeding, which can be life threatening.

Broccoli
Broccoli is known as the benchmark or ‘superfood’ of vegetables, as it packs the most nutritional punch of any other vegetable. Broccoli’s nutrients include folic acid , vitamin C, calcium and fiber. The calcium it contains has been shown in research to lower blood pressure, and prevent colon cancer. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

How it works: Broccoli has fiber, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C, all nutrients that help lower blood pressure. One cup of steamed broccoli provides more than 200 percent of the vitamin C you need each day. Researchers aren’t sure how, exactly, vitamin C helps. Theories range from the vitamin promoting the excretion of lead to calming the sympathetic nervous system to protecting nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels, thereby increasing blood flow. But the results are the same: Antioxidant vitamin C helps normalize blood pressure.

How much: Eat at least one serving a day. It can be steamed or eaten raw in salads.

Side effects

As these medications affect the heart and blood vessels, they may cause the heart beat to be irregular, slow or fast. Depression can also be associated as a side effect of blood pressure medications.

Dandelion

For more than a century, dandelion has been used as a cure-all for countless conditions and ailments in cultures around the world, particularly in its native Asia and Europe. The entire plant is edible, from leaves to roots. The health benefits of dandelion include relief from liver disorders, diabetes, skin problems, eyes, anemia, as well as lowering blood pressure.

Dandelion are nature’s richest green vegetable source of beta-carotene, from which vitamin A is created. They are also rich in fiber, potassium, B vitamins, thiamine and riboflavin.

How it works: Dandelion acts as a diuretic in the body , and as a result helps reduce blood pressure by releasing excess sodium without the loss of potassium (as occurs with some over-the-counter diuretics). This is invaluable as excess sodium raises blood pressure by constricting blood vessels, while potassium helps regulate it. Dandelion also has significant amounts of magnesium, which dissolves blood clots and stimulates the production of nitric oxide, helping to relax and dilate blood vessels for better blood flow.

How much: Eat fresh dandelion greens in a salad, sauté dandelion roots in a stir-fry, Incorporate it into your eating lifestyle.

Prescription alternative

There are many prescription diuretics on the market today. They work by making your kidneys excrete more sodium, which in turn takes water out from your blood stream.

Side effects

Arrhythmia – abnormal heart function- Extreme tiredness/weakness- Dizziness- Blurred vision- Lose of appetite- nausea and muscle cramps are all possible.

Oats

In a 12-week study comparing whole-grain oat-based cereals to refined wheat-based cereals, researchers reported that 73 percent of hypertensive participants in the oats group were able to cut out their antihypertensive medications, or reduce them by half. The remaining participants also experienced significantly reduced blood pressure. Nearly 1 in 3 American adults have high blood pressure, which usually shows no immediate symptoms, but long term can cause serious health issues with the heart and blood vessels that can lead to other complications.

How they work: The fiber in oats are made up of half soluble and half insoluble fiber. The beta-glucans found in the soluble fiber has be shown to be effective in lowering blood cholesterol. As the soluble fiber breaks down as it passes the digestive tract, it forms a gel that acts as a filter for bile acids and components that are contributors to cholesterol.

How much: The benefits of oats are best if you have a 3oz (dry amount) serving each morning, or at minimum six servings per week. Add a banana for added potassium, as that will help further reduce your blood pressure. A study found that eating (3 grams) of soluble fiber from this amount of oatmeal decreased total cholesterol by about 2%, which parallels a decrease of 4% in coronary heart decease.

Berries

Berries are looked upon as being “Super-foods”, this being due to their high content of vitamins and phytochemicals, which have been shown to have a strong influence in preventing disease.

They are low calorie, highly nutrient rich, help in weight loss, boost your immune system and help in resistance to cancer and Alzheimers. Calorie for calorie they are the most potent antioxidants on the planet.

How they work: All berries are high in natural vitamins and have a powerful impact on your health, but each posses certain individual benefits. Acai berries have a natural cholesterol inhibitor- Goji berries from the Himalayas are rich in Vitamin C, aid in preventing heart disease and cancer- Blueberries have the most fiber of all the berries, and help lower cholesterol, act as an anti-inflammatory, and are anti-aging- Blackberries are high in manganese and Vitamin c and boost your immune system- Raspberries are extremely high in antioxidants and increase red blood cells- This is to list but a few.

How much: Eat at least one serving (one cup) of berries per day, fresh when possible.

Conclusion

All that we need was created under the sun for us to have optimum health and longevity, and it’s by changing the way we see things, that the things that we see will change. The dependance on most pharmaceuticals is not for your wellness, but a doctrine pushed on doctors at medical school, and then reenforced by pharmaceutical sales persons, by way of a nice commission check to the doctors so that they hard sell them to their patients. Of course some are for our goodness, but the vast majority could be avoided with a better knowledge of the benefits of diet, supplements and exercise. This however, is not in the interests of the current system as it makes the pharmaceutical industry a horrific amount of money, money that if it were given back to society would eradicate poverty, instead of being used to finance political campaigns and line the pockets of all the already wealthy beneficiaries.
