August 2011 – How to Burn Fat By Eating

Lose Weight by Eating

Hi friends,

Hello once again! it’s already August, where did Summer go you may ask? The season of long days with BBQs and meals by the poolside! I will write some more spiritual material for the September newsletter, but for this one it’s what we all like to do… eat eat eat!!!

Can You Burn Fat By Eating?

How could it get any simpler? Well, it may not be so simple, but it’s simple enough to be worth doing. The low down on the high down of this good news is this… you need some basic information to really understand this.

Total Daily Energy Expenditure

At a very basic level the food and beverages you consume contain energy that your body uses as fuel. Your total daily energy expenditure is the total fuel used on that day by your body. If you eat more energy than you spend, it will be stored as fat. On the other hand, if you spend more energy than you consume, you will burn fat.

Most people enjoy driving their cars, which run off the fuel that they put in them. However, these same people are not so crazy about the cost of the fuel. Hence driving a vehicle with better fuel economy is generally considered as a benefit. Interestingly enough, most people enjoy putting fuel in their body (eating and drinking), but they are much less excited to use up that fuel. That’s the major reason for most people being overweight. That’s the reason why it’s important to make our bodies as efficient as possible in burning the fuel (food) that we enjoy putting in it!

Most of the actual energy is used only to keep your body alive even when you are lazy and inactive sitting with the remote, or in your car, while your metabolism is working only at 60-75% of it’s maximum (BMR).

Effect of thermic activity at work

15-30% thermic effect of activity – this is the energy that is used in moving your body around, including remote control use, exercise, shaving in the morning, etc.

10% thermic effect of food – this is the energy used when you eat.

What is that? You thought the point of eating was to gain energy and not to use it? When digesting food, your body uses energy.

Some foods that are eaten raw will cause your body to burn more calories to digest than what is in the food itself.

Try consuming some of these “negative calorie foods”:

  • Apples
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Lemon
  • Strawberry
  • Tangerine,
  • Asparagus
  • Kale
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery
  • Cucumber
  • Green beans
  • Lettuce
  • Radishes
  • Spinach
  • Peppers
  • Cilantro
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Ginger
  • Mustard seeds
  • Parsley

Eat more of these foods and you can burn more fat simply by eating!

Bon Appetite!
